Glenwood, Utah was established under the United Order under the direction of Brigham Young. This Zion's Co-operative Mercantile Institution (ZCMI) opened its doors in 1868 and served 150 communities with retail commodities and other services.
This is the oldest commercial outlets in Sevier County and one of the few remaining Cooperative stores in all of Utah built during the United Order of the 1870's. This store functioned as part of the United Order until 1882 until the order was discontinued. However, the mercantile itself ran as a private business until the 1952.
