Celebrating our Heritage-Be a contemporary pioneer.

With so great an inheritance we can do no less than our very best.  Those who have gone before us expect this of us.
We have a mandate from the Lord.  We have a vision of our cause and purpose"
-President Gordon B. Hinckley

"There is so much in our world of enmity and retribution of selfishness and division, we need a few cities on a hill whose light beckons all to a higher plane.  We need contemporary pioneers who see the interest of their neighbors and do "all things with an eye single to the glory of Bod."- Elder D. Todd Chistopherson

We lost our Grandfather, Max Dickson Weaver on October 15, 2012.  This weekend we will gather again  to celebrate and honor his life and that or our grandmother, Ruth Mabel Stoddard Kimball Weaver (December 28, 1917- August 21, 2009).

I am so grateful for the time I was able to spend with my grandfather both in my growing up years and toward the latter years of his life. During our last visit together, the last understandable uttering   he said to me was, "Do Good!"

I share that with all of his posterity.... do Good- Be a Pioneer in your own right- keep the chain of Max and Ruth's Strong... let ther be "no weak links" found among us.

I am so grateful that we get to gather once again... "Families are Forever!"

Summer- a time to reconnect

Suzanne and Amyanne

I love that summer slowed down enough to grab an evening to gather... Life is so much sweeter with FRIENDS!
Rigby and I had the best friends in high school.  We literally "ran" with the runners.  This gang was smart, dedicated, talented, and loyal.  Thanks to "Dr. Coach" who kept us excelling and gave us a platform for life.

Summer is a great time to reconnect, to remember and reflect.  So grateful my growing up "bestie" came this summer with her awesome hubby and three adorable girls.  I owe so much of what I am to her... she made me laugh, she made me believe, and she made me "me."

But my life was even luckier as I had a handful of  "women" in my life who taught me these same principles.  These are our daughters....there couldn't be any more powerful sight than this unless of course you look at the following pic....

Add our husbands and our sons and you have a source with which to reckon.  And today they all pay it forward...

Missing the Beach- Virginia Beach Virginia

No matter how old they get, I never tire of watching my children play in the waves.  I am mesmerized by their childlike ways and the excitement that comes from "wave jumping"
Their is a  universal delight that comes from the echo of the chanting of the waves- in and out the waves continue.  Its a melody that calms the spirit and awakens the soul.
We caught our vacation early this summer.  I am so glad we did.  We haven't stopped "running" since we returned. Our day spent at Virginia Beach was perfectly perfect!

This is our first "beach stop" that Travis and I simply watched them work together in their castle building. Now that they are older, we are enjoying these experiences more and more.  To me, it is so important that they build bonds now that will last them their lifetime.

I could of done or been anything I wanted in this lifetime, but I chose to be their mom.  That means everything to me...  I am so grateful that Rigby does what he does so I can do what I do!
This was our first time to the Atlantic ocean- we loved it.
20 years later, lots of adventures- happy and hard and we are still smiling- love this family of mine- love this Rigby!

Monday Memory- Why Marriage and Family Matter Everywhere in the World

Left to right: Heather, Wendy and me

So my family is a little quirky, but what family isn't?
From the last conference address by Elder L. Tom Parry he stated, "marriage and family matter."  Mine matters to me... how about yours to you?

It's Monday Memory at Barnwood and Tulips.... While you view my pics answer one of the following questions and journal about it... family history is fun!

1.  My favorite memory or tradition with my family is?
2.The most fun thing my family does or did growing up was?
3. What I love BEST about my family is?

All the quotes from this blog post come from the words of President Ezra Taft Benson unless otherwise noted.
Yesterday, I taught Relief Society the lesson came from the teaching of President Ezra Taft Benson.  He stated, "The family is one of God's greatest fortresses against the evils of our day.   Help keep your family strong and close and worthy of our Father in Heaven's blessings."
Families are Forever: (left to Right) dad, mom, Michael, Ember, Heather, Kim, Wendy, Rick, me and Travis (my Rigby)

Travis and I have tried really hard to not miss weddings or funerals.  I was so grateful to have found these pics that were taken at our nephew Josh's wedding last fall. I am so grateful we made the effort and sacrifice to be there.

"In Happy Marriages, husbands and wives love and serve God and each other."

"Spiritual Growth comes by solving problems together- not by running from them.

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches that everything should center in and around the family."

"Fathers and mothers in strong families stay close to their children.
                                             THEY TALK!"

"Children need to know who they are in the eternal sense of their                                                    identity."

"You miss one of the deepest joys of this life and eternity if you willfully avoid the responsiblities of parenthood and home building."

"Mealtime provides a wonderful time to review the activities of the day and to no only feed the body but to fee the spirit as well."

"Nothing except God Himself takes priority over you wife in your life- not work, not recreation, not hobbies. Your spouse is your precious helpmate- your companion."

From the late President Boyd K. Packer, " When it comes to my wife , the mother of our children, I am without words. The feeling is so deep and gratitude so powerful that I left almost without expression.  THE GREATEST REWARD WE HAVE IN THIS LIFE AND THE LIFE TO COME IS OUR CHILDREN AND OUR GRANDCHILDREN."

From the words of the late Elder L. Tom Perry, " The older I get the more I realize that family is the center of life and is the key to eternal happiness."
