Currently Craving- HAPPY HUNTER BOOTS

While this is not a fashion blog, I couldn't help but share my new red HUNTER boots from Nordstroms!
Yes, they are bit pricey, but they totally sing happiness!  Thankfully, it rained, snowed, and sleeted over the weekend so I FINALLY was able to wear them!  I love them!
The other "Rigbys" in my house can't quit teasing me- We live in the desert and we are experiencing a drought- LOL!

Oh well, I know they are all secretly coveting them...  To top it all off, after I helped Rigby set up for the Pow Wow I had to run to Ace Hardware and I decided there is no time like 8 AM to shop- so I came home with more than a painter's tape.
I found these leggings for $15, the Top for $12 and the t-shirt for $6- what a screaming deal!  So fun for me and so perfect to go with my HAPPY HUNTER boots!

This is my view every morning- It's like getting a big hug from the mountains....
HAPPY HUNTER TUESDAY TO YOU ALL!

Memory Monday--Growing up at the ball park

Truth be known, this is where I grew up- the baseball park.  It was a stone's throw from 2nd East and all of us Weavers played ball, most of us for Rotary's Bill Kringlen.  On hot summer nights, I fell asleep with the sound of the baseball hitting the bat and the lights on the baseball diamond as my night light.

On a good day, I had 40 cents in my pocket and could treat myself to a red sno cone that is if I hadn't spent it already at Cowley Drug. Mom always seemed to have a pot of sloppy joes in the crock pot with cupcakes close by- I don't think she could have made if we hadn't lived so close.

The door to our little red brick house was revolving during baseball season. One of us always had a ball game. These were back in the days when kids didn't carry water bottles and team snacks- are you kidding me... " We grew up good us Weavers"- in fact, we were ball players some of us better than most, but we all could play ball.

This rickety old bridge was the gateway to our "magic world."  I loved to pedal my bike to the ball park and soar across it "the other world."  It was a place where dreams came true!

Today the bridge has been restored, but my memories still echo here...

This was our field, The American League- Rotary. The sides of both left and right fields were lined with shade trees- perfect for hot summer days.  Mom and dad were the American League president for over 17 years.  They taught we seven "how to pay it forward."  Today, we all try to do the same!
The score keeping booth was where you could find my mom.  She was Kringlen's official scorekeeper. This was nice for baby sister and I as we sought shelter from the nasty wind and the biting cold here...

The Dug out- When my older brother Mike had a off season, he would sing the song, "ride the pine, ride the pine.  And then of course when I was the "rookie" he sang it to me. Back in the day, there were no leagues for girls so my older sister and I suited up- we joined a man's world.  She faired brilliantly.  Mom also wrote sports articles for the local paper and older sister was a star- headlines read, "bat girl no longer, she is here to play."  It always has been tough to fill her shoes.
As our family has grown up and moved away and then returned, I love to come here to think and to remember.  My brother Chris played center field here.  I can still see him move on the field in a fluid motion.  He was an athlete.  He went on to play college ball and even threw a "shut out" against BYU.  Grandma and Grandpa Weaver, avid BYU fans, proudly hung that news article on their fridge.
Yep, those were great days.  I return here now to watch our own "fab five" play.  Our oldest hit his first home run grand slam on "Rotary's field"- fitting don't you think?  They have all known victories and defeats here--

At the end of the game(s), my feet would hit the pedals and hop a ride across the old bridge home to mom's pot of sloppy joes with my smiling red sno cone stained cheeks.  "For its one, two, three strikes you're out at the old ball game!"

*Author's note- So sorry to be on this post- I was at the ball park all night making memories!

Sacred Sunday

Today was a proud day for Travis and I--- a sacred occasion!  Seleck was ordained a Priest by Travis and then he was able to ordain Stockton a Teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood.  It was a most heavenly experience such as I can't write about it here!

The older I get the more I know I don't know much.  So glad our children have such amazing grandparents who continue to teach us by their great examples!

What an amazing "motherhood moment!"  I am so grateful for my testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  I know that God Loves me and my family.  I am a recipient of his "tender mercies" on a daily basis. I am  so grateful that Joseph Smith, a boy of 14  knelt down in the sacred grove to ask a simple question.  This question has blessed the lives of my family for generations.  How grateful I am for this forever family of mine!  I love my sweet Travis- he is my forever best friend and it is these sweet five of ours that have changed and improved my heart over the years.  I love being a mom.  I know it my mission here upon the earth to be a "Guardian of the Hearth!

Love these boys.... these men

2012

Don't you love their smiles?  This was their birthday 2012- the day Seleck was ordained a teacher and Stockton a deacon.  This Sunday- just two short years later, Seleck will be ordained a priest and Stockton a teacher.  In August, Madsen will be ordained a Deacon.  How grateful I am to have 3 almost four men who hold the priesthood in our home (The Priesthood is the power to Act in God's name here upon the earth.)  My men are growing up.

I was stirred by this photo.  I can almost hear the sound of the ocean and feel the sand tickling my piggies.  The air is fresh and the seagulls are singing.  There is a rhythm here and its melody is the sound of laughter and of boyhood almost soon gone.  I close my eyes and I can remember this day -the the moment I took this picture.  I tucked it away in my heart to warm me on a cold day.  I am happy!  I am afraid if I blink they will be grown and gone... the birthday brothers, daddy, and little brother, and if I turn my head I can see Emma and Maleck chasing the waves...

In 2011, Stockton won the Patriot Award in 5th grade.  In honor of the event, we took our three oldest to Washington D.C. (We just didn't think Emma and Maleck would enjoy themselves).  While we missed our "little ones,"  we truly were thrilled to experience D.C. with our oldest three.  It was such an education for us all- Thank you Stockton!

Thank goodness we have two "You are Special"
                                   plates for April 22nd!
Birthday breakfast- enjoying daddy's favorite crepes and                                                           smoothies!

Sunday, April 22, 2012- we were so grateful to have "Grandpa Great" (Max Dickson Weaver) with us for their ordinations.  It was quite a sight to behold- we will miss you this Sunday Grandpa!  Grandpa always wanted to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but it was the depression and few were called to serve.  I know he will be so proud of these two when they fulfill his desire!

More of the birthday boys!

                              Birthday 2007

Cousin Easton was born April 21, 1995

                                                      Crazy Hair Day

When they were little and arguing over drinking cups-- Stockton always wanted orange, or discussing with great gusto if our stake center at the end of the street was a church or a temple, I wondered if they would ever grow up?   They used to play in the sandbox and watch Scooby Doo together everyday.  Seleck loved trucks and dinosaurs and Stockton was kicking the soccer ball before he could even walk.

But over all, they have always been friends.  They make the perfect duo... Stockton helps Seleck have fun, and Seleck reminds Stockton when its time to "quiet down."

No matter where I took them when they were just tiny together, they turned heads... - today its happening again.  Watch out dating and high school years- here they come!

The Dynamic Duo- Seleck and Stockton in Mexico

Travis and I love to travel with our children.  Christmas 2006 was amazing in that we went on a Mexican Riviera Cruise with the Rigby family- thanks to  grandpa and grandma for the special gift.

Experiencing Mexico with the kids was an extraordinary experience.  They took it all in and relished in each new experience.  It was such an amazing journey for us all

These handsome boys turned the heads on the ship.  They loved the food!

And of course I made them take their studies!

They each approached the climbing of the wall differently.  Seleck climbed right up and rang that bell- driven as always!  Stockton, somewhat surprisingly was more hesitant, but reached the top as well.  From their earliest years, they have each approached life differently.  It has been fun to witness.

Family is everything to Travis and I.  We love our "fab Five."  We miss their littleness and notice our wrinkles with every inch they grow.  We would not trade a moment being their parents!

Stockton was born on Seleck's 2nd birthday.  When I went into labor on Seleck's big day, it was late afternoon.  Seleck's labor was 17 hours long.  I thought there was no chance of Stockton coming on the 22nd as well.  But did he ever... and quickly too!

I love these "little men" and I am so proud of the young men they are.  It is not an easy world out there.... The world needs leaders-  I know they will rally to the occasion!

Stockton- Smart, Sassy, Speedster, Super, Sensational, Sweet heart, Silly, Spicy, Spontaneous, Strong!

Seleck- Serious, Sweet, single- minded, soft-hearted, service-oriented, Singer, Sober, social, Spiritual!

Happy Birthday to the Birthday Brothers

All week long, Barnwood and Tulips will take a look back at Seleck and Stockton. Today they turned 14 and 16- its been a big day at our house... let's just say we have been celebrating all month.

I love these boys of ours.  I know I was meant to be their mother!  Thanks for showing me the ropes boys... Happy Birthday!  I am so proud of you both!
