Sacred Sunday

Today, Madsen received the Aaronic priesthood. Boys who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints receive the Aaronic Priesthood at age 12 and are ordained to the office of deacon.  Simply put, Madsen now holds a  precious gift, the power of God...
It was a very proud parent day for Travis and me.  We are so grateful to be parents to these "fab five"  to which God has entrusted us.  Each one is so unique and different from the other.  They are our joy!

My favorite men!

Madsen has the most beautiful heart.  The comfort he has brought to me as his mother has been intensely sacred during some very difficult times.  I love this little boy now grown tall!

Stockton, Madsen, and Seleck

When Madsen was a little boy, he was a head turner at the grocery store.  In fact, I received so many smiles and kind gestures as I shopped with him.  I would have to ask myself why was everyone being so kind?  And then of course, I was reminded it was thanks to him-  Madsen, the blue eyed, dark haired, bright smiley beautiful baby boy!

Madsen and Grandpa Rigby
Madsen's given name is Madsen Floyd.  He  was named after his Grandfather Floyd J Rigby.  The two of them are great friends.
Fathers and Sons

Sweet Rigby, ordained Madsen to the office of Deacon and issued him a blessing as well.  I am so blessed to call this man mine- FOREVER!

Boys with Grandpa Jake

So lucky am I to have three young men in our home who are worthy to hold the priesthood. And So grateful am I to my father who has been such an example!

Grandpa Jake and Madsen
I loved having my parents join us for the special occasion.  Grandpa Jake is adored by all of his grandchildren.  He embodies so much of what it means to be truly humble and Christlike.
Madsen loves his Grandma Weaver especially when she make him pie for special occasions. Following our family dinner, Madsen at nearly a whole pie on his own.

This has been a treasured day.  So grateful are we for all of those who have helped Madsen reach this point of his life- teachers, scout leaders, coaches, friends, neighbors, family, and home teachers.
For More than a decade now the Brother Bench and one of his sons (we have had all three) have been our home teachers.  They have seen us through some very difficult times.  We are so lucky to have them in our lives.  They are family to us!

Monday Memory- Madsen's birth

Madsen's blessing day
September 22, 2002

                                                                            One Month old
Madsen was due on September 1st but made his entrance a few days early.  After having been told that our sweet baby boy was dead two times by our doctor, we were eternally grateful when we saw those ten fingers, ten toes, and that beautiful jet black hair.

My water broke at 4:30 am on the morning of the 25th after a long hike on Cedar Mountain the night before.  I nudged Travis and told him my water broke.... hmm he said what water? And rolled over and went back to sleep.  I arose called the hospital and decided before going in I would ready Sunday clothes (it was Sunday morning) for Seleck and Stockton and pack their bags for grandma's.
We arrived at the hospital at 8:30 am and hard labor began at 11:00 am-( It intense and very difficult- I had only a partial epidural) Thank heavens daddy was a great coach!  Madsen made his entrance into the world at 1:18 pm.

It was  love at first sight- tears of joy and love fell freely- How grateful I was for our third little man.!
