Happy New Year's from Team Rigby

Team Rigby

Last year we spent a wonderful week in Cancun for Christmas- it is a treasured memory.  There were two things the kids were most worried about missing- their Christmas Eve jammies and the traditional book we read every Christmas morning before gift opening (we made sure we had both).

This year we were happy to home gathered around our hearth!

Here is our 2014 in a nutshell...

#holiday bucket list complete....

I am so grateful we made the time for these last activities on my holiday bucket list.  Making rag dolls, a gingerbread house and Santa's Christmas cookies completed my holiday bucket list and also tucked some beautiful memories in my heart.  I hope my children remember me and them fondly in the years to come!

Making church rag dolls with Emma was precious- she gave them to her friends this year as gifts.

Gingerbread houses were a beloved tradition in Rigby's home growing up.  Our "Little"  love it too.  Maleck has been begging to do this since we brought the gingerbread kit home.  Mom Rigby used to make her ginger bread from scratch and then cut out the pattern.... she has been known to create the most beautiful villages...

Emma and Kate gave their to grandma Weaver as a Christmas gift.
TA DA!

I have always loved my Aunt Joyce's butter cookie recipe.  She made them every Christmas!

Christmas cookies are a great tradition, but eating them is even better!

Santa's cookies are ready... Merry Christmas everybody!

It's a Wonderful Life

We spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon in Bedford Falls   enjoying- Brigham's Playhouse and "It's a Wonderful Life." I was so  grateful and AMAZED that we could wrangle our "Fab Five"  into an afternoon of culture with Grandma.  After all, the gift of "time" is the best gift of all!
I love this little theater housed in Cottontown village.  It is charming and a venue worth "taking a break" from the hustle of life and enjoying "old times" again.  The stage is intimate and the cast is heartwarming.
This rendition of "IT's a Wonderful Life" was produced by the grandson (great...) of the Brigham Young, Jamie Young.  Brigham would be proud of Jamie and the magic he brings via cast and crew to the marvelously genuine theater experience.
At Brigham's Playhouse, its traditional for the cast to greet the theater patrons after the play--- I love this!
Known as a dessert theater, there are so many "yummies" to choose from including ice cream from the near by Red Barn.  But of particular yumminess is Brigham's Brew (Rootbeer).
Clarence, George Bailey's angel, was simply delightful!
George Bailey and Mary were captivating and generated genuine emotion.  Dale Hoopes as Bailey is indeed a Jimmy Stewart hopeful.  Mary, Kylie Ogzwella,  I believe steals the show.
I am telling everyone to head to Bedford Falls... it truly is a "Wonderful Life."

You are never to old to hug Santa!

Don't worry Brigham, Barnwood and Tulips will be back to Bedford Falls!

Snow Happy!

If you are like me, you are feeling the holiday pressure of getting everything done---Last night Seleck hosted a junior class holiday open house at our home.  It was a lot of fun, but quite frankly it wore me out.

However, Maleck and I were delighted to be greeted by the snow when we woke this morning.  It called for one thing-ADVENTURE!  So we left the morning mess and all the million other "To do's" and headed for the hills.
It won't be long before these "Maleck Moments" are long gone.  Next year he goes to school full time and I will be somewhat of an "empty nester"
We climbed hill after hill-- he challenged me to race him up the trails.  He of course always gave me the easier route-- he said!
The snow was absolutely amazing and did my heart good!

I will miss this kiddo-- six has come far to fast.  When he is not shouting orders at me (he is pretty much in charge) he is incredibly loving and a lot of fun to be around!

I loved these Maleck moments today!  It reminded me of the "moments" I shared with Seleck, Stockton, Madsen, Emma.  I blinked and those days are gone!

Leaving Footprints!

Maleck snapped a pic of me

I love to sneak away and breath deep--- to suck the marrow out of life!

And then of course we concluded our morning adventure with a sled ride down our backyard hill--- the snow was sparse but Mrs. Vasi's Gingerbread man didn't seem to mind!
