Power and Protection in Heeding Prophetic Priorites
Power and Protection in Heeding Prophetic Priorities- Canyon View Stake Challenge 2014- an Invitation to act. - At the very essence of who I am as a woman, a spouse, and a mother is my belief in a loving and all powerful Heavenly Father who sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ as the Savior of the World... for you and for me. It is this knowledge that guides my life daily.
I feel so very blessed to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My husband and I can trace our ancestral roots to the time of Joseph Smith, the prophet of the Restoration. We feel so very blessed to live in a stake where our Stake Presidency heeds the counsel of our living Prophet Thomas S. Monson. This year they have issued us a challenge... we the Rigby family accept that challenge.... that invitation to act.
President Harold B. Lee, (The 11th President of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) stated, " The only safety we have as members of this church is to... give heed to the words and commandments that the Lord shall give through his prophet."
Goals: (Through goals and plans, our hopes are transformed into action. Goal setting and planning are acts of faith."- Preach my gospel, pg. 146) As individuals we will continue to work on a faith inspired action this year as well as a Christlike attribute. As a family, we will strengthen our family by studying the words of the living prophets from the most recent Conference addresses. Each Sunday during family home evening, we will choose a talk for the week to study and then the following week, we will each take a minute to share our thoughts and feelings. This week we will study the Conference address of Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the 12 apostles. We will record thoughts in a family journal.
As parents we can't and won't always be there for our children, but the words of the prophets will. In the end our ultimate goal is to help someone else feel the love of the Savior through each one of us!

Happy Birthday Rigby- call it luck?
Sometimes you just get lucky... maybe luck is not the right word. Maybe sometimes you simply get blessed beyond measure. Perhaps, it is when the stars shine a little brighter or the planets align just right. Whatever it is, it happened to me.
Like, when I was sitting in my sophomore geometry class and I look over and I saw those lips- his lips and I simply wanted to kiss them. Strange for the girl who only wanted to play catch with the football with any boy up until this point.
Or Lucky. like when you say good-bye in airport for two years. You walk him to the boarding door and you say I love you- and he comes back two years later and that love is still there.
Or blessed to welcome five beautiful spirits to your home- each one so unique and such a great part of him- a portrait if you would.
Then there is devestation when no heart beat is found and he holds you close and catches the tears- his love envelops you- more blessings.
Or more blessed like the night he has a stroke at 35 and throughout the night you hold your breath every time the nurse checks his vitals and makes him do funny tests like touch his nose. Heaven is so close you feel it lift you higher.
And then there was the next blessing- my heart stopped and yours beckoned it back. Their five faces were the last thing I saw before each test and yours was the first one I wanted to see afterwards!
I know that the prayer that is always answered is the prayer for strength. I love you Travis. Thanks for helping me become stronger. Happy Birthday- you are my luck, my blessing, my star and my planets aligning!
Our 40's will be a great decade!
