Celebrating womenhood

If I never been blessed  to be a mother, I would count my blessings that I could be an Aunt.  My mom turns 74 on April 5th so in honor of the occasion she treated her granddaughters and daughters to a weekend in Salt Lake City.  We were only short 5 granddaughters- it was so much fun!

Cousin Jenimarie and daughters Kaitlin and Chloe joined us too!

We enjoyed a late lunch at the Lion House and were thrilled that cousin Julie and her daughter Madisyn joined us as well!

Daughters of a Heavenly King...

My Emma and niece Adelaide have no sisters so they love being together!

I fell in love with the flowers at temple square...

Nothing quite like GIRL POWER
Being unique is beautiful... so many blossoms so many colors- each adding to the variety of God's Garden.

Thanks mom, we had the best time!  Happy Birthday!

Happy Spring

Grandma "Z" left us her tulips,
Each spring they bloom
reminding us of her.
Elegance, grace, sophistication,
Refined and witty.
Tulips don't stay for long
but the memory and beauty linger-
Just like Grandma "Z!"
I passed the daffodils,
they waved hello
and welcomed spring.
Happy and bright
they burst in color and liveliness.

I want to be a daffodil
I want to wave and welcome spring
I want to make life happy and bright
I want to burst in color-
I want to be ALIVE!

Monday memory- Sometimes the best memories are the ones we make today....

We enjoyed a great weekend of meetings associated with Stake conference.  The theme was "Hastening the Work of Salvation."  Life is such a balancing act... so much to do- family history work, missionary work, temple work, but most important is to take time for those who are in our immediate lives.
Our "Fab Five" are growing all to fast.  Although Rigby was at "Church Service" yesterday afternoon,  grandma and grandpa joined us for dinner and then we even got "Pa Pa Jake" to throw the baseball around in the the back yard a bit.  It was so fun.
I even got in on the action.  For me, baseball is home!  We never had much as kids, but we had baseballs and mitts and the ball park as our back yard. And while my dad wasn't our coach, he and and my mom served as league president for 17 years.  I love how they taught me to "pay it forward!'

Thanks mom and dad for the great Sunday afternoon-- and thanks for the memories!

Emma meets her great, great, great grandfather, Henry Lunt

Emma pictured above with Henry Lunt, (32 years old)

Sharing my love of family history with my children is my greatest joy.  Emma and I spent an afternoon researching her great great great grandfather, Henry Lunt.  His personal history came to life as we took a field trip to Special Collections at Southern Utah University.
Emma was able to make some entries in her own journal:  Henry Lunt was born July 20, 1824 and died January 22, 1902.  Emma's great Grandmother Zina Lunt (Rigby) was the last living grandchild of Henry's.

Only direct descendants are allowed to handle these items.  How exciting... The collection included:  his spectacles, his handwritten journal, and his 1883 copy of the Doctrine and covenants.

Henry lived a life of great faith and dedication to the Lord. Henry boarded the ship Argo in January 1850 on a cold bleak day.  Henry had joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was saying good-bye to his beloved England, family and friends- all that he held dear --- The Love of God abounded in his heart and the message of the "good news"  of the gospel  penetrated his heart.  Henry was on his way to join ZION!

The faith of our forefathers is felt as we come to know them... I know our faith was strengthened by our conversation with Henry Lunt!

Monday Memory- February according to the iphone

I love February it always reminds me how lucky I am! Six years ago on February 26th we almost lost Rigby to a massive stroke.  Maleck was 12 weeks old.  In the years that have followed, I have watched with awe as he has battled to become "Travis" again.  The stroke effected his speech and left two black spots on his brain which effected his personality, communication abilities and outlook on life.

Prayer for him was a most difficult task as he simply did not feel God there.  But he pressed forward, never gave up, continued to pray, and serve in the church.  How lucky we are to have him in our lives.  He is coach, daddy, friend, playmate, adventurer, teacher, example-- The list could go on...

So Yes, I am still head over heels in love with Rigby- he makes me happy.  He is a man of integrity. . He is my best friend!
