My mother, Janet Hofheins Weaver was born April 5, 1941. She was born at a time when the world was fraught with uncertainty and war was a part of her every day existence. As the oldest of 6 children, mothering was something that came natural to her. However, in her own right she was a part of the liberation of women. But she made motherhood her choice. She attended CSU and then later graduated from Brigham Young University. She was a gifted writer and actress. She appeared in many plays throughout her college years and also as editor and writer for the school papers. She has seen the greater and worst part of the history which transpired during the 2nd half of the 20th century. In fact, she was teaching school at Pleasant Grove High school the day John Fitzgerald Kennedy, our President, was assassinated. She remembers the day Elvis died. As a mother of 7 children and housewife she knew what it meant to be frugal. Her children were more important to her than fine apparel or nice furnishings. She could feed all seven of her flock on one can of tuna, and a butter knife and a band aid could just about solve any crisis. I am so proud of my mom, and I so proud of her for loving my dad for 50 years! Thanks mom for your example of courage, sacrifice, and hard work. I love you! .

My Three White Dresses
Preface- As a young girl, growing up in the old first ward, we had a fashion show every August before school started. It was a mother daughter event. We enjoyed a wonderful brunch and then the girls of all ages in the ward would model a favorite back to school outfit. It was one of those much anticipated events. Now, the first ward is situated on the East side of town. We were not what you would call affluent, but we made the most of what we had. I love my growing up memories! This Modesty Matters Fashion show was inspired by my memories. It is an primary/activity day event featuring 8 and 9 year old girls.. I feel it is so important to teach modesty at a young age...
I think they had fun.... I sure did
