Pearl Harbor-Honoring those who served-
Another great way to honor those who serve our country to ensure and protect our freedom is to visit historical monuments and markers. Travis and I try to share these experiences with our children. We love to vacation with our "fab 5!" while we try to make our vacations memorable, we also try to make them educational as well.
I have many patriotic memories of my father. He is a great admirer of Abe Lincoln and a history buff. Every historical marker we have ever passed, he made us stop and study. As a kid, I didn't always appreciate this, but today, it is something I treasure and strive to pass to my children as well.
Mom and dad- thanks Travis for bringing them along....
They were 6 months old when Pearl Harbor was bombed
Its hard to believe that time has gone by so fast!
We took journals for our children to record their experiences in-- Madsen takes a few notes!

Planting seeds of patriotism is a great way to share your love of America ....

Memory Monday- Remembering my ancestors in uniform
(Monday Memory- a wonderful way to celebrate memorial day- who are the soldiers in your family?)
When I was 18 years old, I stood on the beaches of Normandy and remembered- I remembered my Great Uncle Bernell Evans who landed there with the US first troops in World War II- he says he will never forget the smell of the lilacs as he climbed Normandy Beach that day-- the day that has never been forgotten

I think of him now... and so many others of my ancestors who have served our nation at all costs. I am deeply humbled by their courage and forever grateful!
What a wonderful line of brave men I am privileged to descend from...
